Devil's Arithmatic questions

b) what is a theme of the movie Devil's Arithmatic? Give proof

The main theme of Devil's Arithmatic is maturity. At the beginning of the movie, Hannah, the main character, is a classic example of teenage America. She is shallow, rebelious, and airheaded. She literaly rolls her eyes during the seder and gets drunk on watered down wine. After her expierience in the concentration camps and her "death," she matures. She doesn't take her life for granted and actually participates in Pasover. From beginningto end, Hannah goes from teenager to young woman.

  1. I fully agree with your "choice of theme," Michael. After her horrible, yet moving experince at the concentration camp I hope Hannah grew up to apreciate her family and religion more than ever before. Another thing to hope for would be that she remembers what her family went through during the Holocaust and always thinks twice now before complaining in what she considers a "tough time," like she had done before Passover when her biggest worry was what animal to get tattoed on her foot.
